The Russian Red Cross (RRC) has repaired the roof of the RRC House of Mercy in the village Ivanovskaya Lisitsa in the Belgorod Region, which was almost completely destroyed by shelling in June this year. Thanks to the repair works, the facility again provides its residents with safe and stable living conditions and care.
The roof repairs restored the conditions for making a safe and comfortable living environment for the patients and for providing specialised care to those who need long-term care. The Graivoronsky District Administration helped to replace the glass and frames that were also damaged during the shelling.
“For seriously ill people, our long-term care hospital becomes a second home, and it is very important that it is not only cosy and comfortable, but also safe. Given the tense situation in the border regions, the safety of our patients is an absolute priority for us. We enhanced the building's security in advance by covering the windows with armoured film, which helped to prevent any casualties during the drone attack in June. We will continue to strengthen the infrastructure of institutions that are particularly important for the most vulnerable citizens," said Pavel Savchuk, President of the Russian Red Cross and member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The House of Mercy in the village of Ivanovskaya Lisitsa was opened by the Russian Red Cross in 2015 intended for the accommodation and treatment of seriously ill patients who have lost the ability to care for themselves. Medical and social assistance is provided here round the clock, including patient care and rehabilitation activities. The inpatient ward can accommodate 32 patients, who are cared for by four nurses and junior medical staff.
The renovation of the House of Mercy was done with the support of Sovcomflot. The Russian Red Cross and the company have been cooperating systematically to provide assistance to vulnerable groups, including residents of the border areas. In particular, this cooperation has enabled the Russian Red Cross to send humanitarian aid packages and vouchers to victims in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.
