The Russian Red Cross (RRC), the oldest humanitarian organization in Russia, will launch master classes on kinship care for patients with self-care deficits in 32 regions of Russia. They will be available to all interested at the regional branches of the Russian Red Cross.
Master classes on kinship care will start in 32 regional branches of the Russian Red Cross. Volunteers, medical professionals, social workers, relatives of patients with self-care deficits, and patients themselves will all be able to attend them.
"We see that the number of people in urgent need of help is growing. This is due both to their state of health and to ageing. And it is extremely important to teach patients and their relatives to organize everyday life and care. That's why we launched topical workshops on kinship care for people with self-care deficit," said Victoria Makarchuk, First Vice-President of the Russian Red Cross.
Workshops will be held both at training centers of the regional branches of the Russian Red Cross, and in hospitals, social security institutions and non-profit organizations.
Workshop participants will learn self-care theory for people with self-care deficits, and consolidate their knowledge in practice. For example, they will learn how to move a patient from a bed to a wheelchair, how to feed a person with a self-care deficit, and how to perform hygienic procedures.
The master classes are to take place in 32 regions of Russia: Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Vladimir, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kaluga and Leningrad regions, Nenets Autonomous District, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Orel, Penza and Pskov regions, Perm and Krasnoyarsk territories, Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Karelia, Mari-El, Chechnya and Chuvashia, Rostov, Sakhalin, Samara and Sverdlovsk regions, Tver and Tyumen regions, as well as in St. Petersburg and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. In Kamchatka Krai the master class will be held on May 24, 2022.
Later, kinship care classes will be launched in North Ossetia, Udmurtia, the Yaroslavl region, Moscow, and Ingushetia.
Master classes on kinship care have already been held in 13 regions of the country: Belgorod, Vologda, Voronezh, Kemerovo, Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Magadan regions, Primorsky Krai, Tula, Tambov, Tomsk and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in the Republic of Tatarstan. More than 1,000 people attended them.
"The classes will last until the end of 2022. However, if necessary, we can extend the training program. Altogether, we plan to cover 50 regions of Russia with these master classes. We expect that the total number of participants will be at least 15,000 people," said Viktoria Makarchuk.
