The Russian Red Cross launched distribution of vouchers in Belgorod to buy clothes for refugees from the Kharkiv region
      12.09.2022

Refugees from the Kharkiv region, who are arriving to the Belgorod region, have begun to receive vouchers from the Russian Red Cross (RRC) to buy clothes. The Belgorod regional branch of the RRC is actively involved in providing assistance, both humanitarian, legal and psychological.

“Humanitarian aid is desperately needed at the current moment. In addition to distributing vouchers to buy “Gloria Jeans” clothes, we will soon begin to distribute humanitarian kits in the Belgorod region. There will be 700 of them. However, the help of citizens, those who care, is very important here. Therefore, we urge people to respond to the appeal and support the displaced people. Together we can help,” said Pavel Savchuk, the President of the Russian Red Cross.

You can bring baby food and clothes, blankets, pillows, towels, bedding items, personal hygiene items, water, foods with a long shelf life (pasta, cereals, canned food) to the following address – the city of Belgorod, Bogdan Khmelnitsky Avenue, 181 (Belgorod branch of the Russian Red Cross). Reception schedule – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The personnel in the regional branch of the RRC also meets and accompanies newly arrived people from Donbass and Ukraine, provides psychosocial support, consults on migration laws, and realizes visits to temporary accommodation points to assess the needs of the newly arrived. The RRC also assists the displaced persons with restoring family links, payment for translation of documents, and obtaining citizenship and employment.

Since July 19, a mobile aid station of the Russian Red Cross has been operating in the Belgorod region to provide assistance to displaced people in need. So far it is the only mobile station of its kind operating in Russia, which allows to promptly help people being evacuated to Russia. More than 1,200 refugees have already received the assistance. The mobile aid station works with several functions. In this mobile aid station, the personnel receives and processes applications for welfare payments from the RRC, humanitarian aid distribution, mobile SIM cards, prepaid SIM cards at no charge, receives applications for restoring family links, provides psychosocial support, provides mobile communication (calls to relatives and friends) and the Internet access (finding routes to other cities, buying tickets).

In addition to the named functions, the mobile aid station is equipped with a sensory room for psychological relaxation of the newly arrived people. It provides both individual and group sessions for adults and children.

The Russian Red Cross acts as one of the main coordinators of humanitarian aid to the displaced people and refugees from Donbass and Ukraine on the territory of the Russian Federation. Thus, since February 18, 2022 about 1,600 tons of humanitarian aid have been collected and delivered via the RRC to those who have suffered of the Ukrainian crisis.
