The Russian Red Cross (RRC), the oldest Russian humanitarian organization, held a meeting with the Egyptian Red Crescent. The organizations discussed main areas of their work, with a focus on health care and exchange of experience in preventing socially significant diseases.
The RRC intensified international communications and meetings with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of other countries, as part of the implementation of the RF President's grant “Humanitarian Diplomacy and Strengthening Cooperation with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.” In this connection Pavel Savchuk, the RRC President had a meeting with Ramy El Nazer, CEO of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.
They discussed the organizations' main areas of activity and paid special attention to health care, in particular exchange of experience in preventing socially significant diseases. To this end specialists from the RRC medical and social programs will visit Egypt next year.
“Health care work is one of the key activities of our National Society. The Russian Red Cross implements many social and medical programs aimed at raising people's awareness in primary and secondary disease prevention, provides training for social workers and promotes blood and bone marrow donation," said Pavel Savchuk, the Russian Red Cross President.
Ramy El Nazer, CEO of the Egyptian Red Crescent, spoke about the organization's medical and social projects. One of the Egyptian Red Crescent's main activities, he said, is to improve people's health in general, including mitigating effects of infectious diseases, and strengthen reproductive health.
“We currently have about 300 health clinics, including 45 vaccination centers, 8 hospitals with 100 beds, rehabilitation centers, 51 primary health care facilities in different provinces to provide basic medical care, medical examinations, treatment and follow-up at affordable prices, 31 reproductive health and family planning clinics and 5 blood banks,” said Ramy El Nazer.
The Egyptian Red Crescent extended its support, expressed solidarity to the Russian Red Cross and congratulated Russian volunteers on the International Volunteer Day, celebrated these days.
