The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation together with The Russian Red Cross have launched a fundraising campaign aimed at restoring cultural institutions in Dagestan that have been damaged. More than 1.3 million rubles were raised in a month, which will go to support the Republican School of Circus Arts in the town of Dagestanskiye Ogni. This is the only circus school in the North Caucasus that has been training future circus performers for over half a century. More than 700 people have joined the fundraising campaign on the volunteer fundraising platform “Friends of the Russian Red Cross”.
“When emergencies strike, it is important not to forget to rebuild what brings communities together and helps them to thrive. The Republican school of Circus Arts is exactly that kind of place. For more than half a century, it has been bringing together hundreds of children and their families, turning into a focal point for the whole community. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Russian Ministry of Culture and hundreds of caring people across the country, we have managed to raise funds for its restoration,” emphasized Pavel Savchuk, President of the Russian Red Cross.
More than 700 people from across the country — ranging from cultural institutions to creative associations and partners — have joined the fundraising campaign on the volunteer fundraising platform “Friends of the Russian Red Cross”.
“People working in our sector have also come together to help their colleagues. Many cultural institutions across the country have organized charity performances, music concerts and film screenings, with their proceeds going towards the restoration of cultural institutions. We have raised 1.3 million rubles in one month through our joint efforts. It is not a huge amount of money but the impact of this support and human solidarity is remarkable, said Sergey Pershin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The fundraising campaign was organized on the digital volunteer fundraising platform “Friends of the Russian Red Cross” (friends.redcross.ru). Any user can launch fundraising here related to important events — birthdays, weddings or other personal dates — as well as organize various sports events, hold concerts and other online and offline events by inviting friends, colleagues, followers and subscribers to support fundraising for the Russian Red Cross.
