Ramy El Nazer, head of the Egyptian Red Crescent, visited the “Health Point” of the Russian Red Cross (RRC) Ulyanovsk regional branch. The RRC is the oldest Russian humanitarian organization. He talked to beneficiaries and also discussed possibilities of further cooperation with the RRC regional branch specialists in medical and social programs.
Ramy El Nazer, CEO of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, spoke about the organization's health programs and noted the importance of sharing experiences between the organizations in prevention of socially significant diseases. To this end specialists from the RRC medical and social programs will visit Egypt next year. The head of the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Russian Red Cross President Pavel Savchuk had already discussed this issue earlier. The RRC intensified international communications and meetings with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of other countries, as part of the implementation of the RF President's grant “Humanitarian Diplomacy and Strengthening Cooperation with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.”
“During my visit I had a chance to see how the Russian Red Cross provides humanitarian services to the population. I believe that the RRC does a lot to develop volunteering and provide volunteer support to all who need it, in different areas, including health care, social services, assistance to the elderly, raising citizens' awareness on health issues and counseling on how to live with certain diseases. I wish the Russian Red Cross great success in its humanitarian activities in the future,” said Ramy EL NAZER, CEO of the Egyptian Red Crescent.
According to Elena Sibagatulina, Chairwoman of the Ulyanovsk regional branch of the Russian Red Cross, it is very important to share experience and join efforts with the Egyptian Red Crescent to prevent socially significant diseases and promote healthy lifestyles among people.
“Our regional branch has been social service provider in the region for more than 4 years. Today we provide social services both in the semi-hospital form and at home. Our colleagues from Egypt also have a lot of experience in this area, so it would be very useful to exchange it. During the meeting with Ramy El Nazer, we discussed in detail our plans in this regard and hope to implement them as soon as possible,” said Elena Sibagatulina.
