In view of the emergence of a fake Telegram channel called “Red Cross Committee,” which is known to spread a malware camouflaged as POW lists, distribute missing soldier tracing applications and files looking like photos and videos featuring one’s family members, the Russian Red Cross reminds that all credible information is published in the following official and verified sources:
• Russian Red Cross website - http://www.redcross.ru/
• Official VK community - https://vk.com/redcross_ru
• Official Telegram channel - https://t.me/redcross_ru
• Official Telegram channel of the Organization’s President - https://t.me/PavelSavchuk
Moreover, personnel of the RRC Restoring Family Links Service never make calls using messengers or unidentified phone numbers, neither do they request passport or banking card details. Staff members of the Organization always introduce themselves spelling out their position. Any assistance is provided by the Organization for free.
The Russian Red Cross traces civilians who are reported missing in connection with the Ukrainian crisis and the Kursk region emergency. Tracing of missing members of the armed forces and prisoners of war is a function performed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense, the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The Russian Red Cross urges you to remain vigilant, avoid sharing your personal data if you have the slightest doubt, or using links or forms shared by persons unknown to you.
