At the beginning of the week the Russian Red Cross (the RRC) has launched the distribution of the vouchers to be used at chain pharmacy stores in the Kursk region. Already more than 2,600 people from vulnerable social groups have received the vouchers. In total, since the beginning of August, more than 48,600 residents of the region have received help from the Russian Red Cross.
The denomination of each voucher to a pharmacy store in the Kursk region is RUB 3,000. About 15,000 vouchers have been allocated for distribution. More than 2,600 vouchers have already been handed over to beneficiaries.
“As of today, vouchers are transferred as a one-time measure. The vouchers are available to people with disabilities of I and II groups, children with disabilities, elderly people over 70 years old, single parents and families with more than two underage children. However, this type of assistance is in demand, because people can buy the necessary medicine when they need it”, informed the Chairman of the Russian Red Cross regional branch in the Kursk region Aleksei GAPONOV.
In addition to the voucher support, the Russian Red Cross provides humanitarian assistance to the residents of the Kursk region. Via the RRC regional branch in Kursk, the humanitarian aid was provided to 35,216 beneficiaries.
“Due to the activity of the RRC regional branches, concerned people and business structures almost 257 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the region. It is truly necessary, and we are grateful to everyone who joined our work”, added Aleksei GAPONOV.
In addition, the RRC team continues to make field visit the temporary accommodation points, register the needs of the people living there and equip the TAPs with household appliances. In particular, 740 units of household appliances were delivered to 34 TAPs, namely washing machines, microwave ovens, irons, kettles, refrigerators, ironing boards and clothes dryers.
The psychological assistance and psychosocial support to all those in need are also underway. As of today, more than 3,500 adults and over 1,800 minors have received help in temporary accommodation points. About 4,500 people were provided with this type of assistance in the RRC Kursk regional branch. More than 3,700 people applied for psychosocial support via the RRC hotline. Beyond that, the RRC staff members have already received more than 3,500 requests to restore family links.
