The Russian Red Cross has delivered 10 body armor vests, worth totally over 1.4 mln rubles, to the Belgorod region Emergency Medical Station. The individual protective means are intended for medical personnel who attend emergencies on a daily basis under pending threat of shelling and drone attacks. The armor vests will protect up to five mobile ambulance teams.
“Today ambulance staff in border districts work in a high risk environment. Emergency services crews are the first to arrive in the affected area assisting victims and implementing medical evacuation, often under continuing threat. Protection of medical personnel is essential for them to carry on their work and render timely assistance to the affected population,” says Pavel Savchuk, Russian Red Cross President.
The Russian Red Cross provides systematic support to the public health system and healthcare organizations in the border regions including the Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh and Rostov regions, and the Republic of Crimea. This covers supplies of medical consumables and individual protection gear, first aid and mine safety training for medical students, and healthcare facilities fit-out. For example, in 2025 upon request of the Kursk region Ministry of Health the Russian Red Cross provided emergency surgical room equipment for the treatment of fragment wounds and concomitant injuries at the regional general hospital in Kursk.
In addition, the Russian Red Cross provides regular humanitarian relief to residents of border regions including Belgorod. Since the beginning of 2026, the Belgorod regional RRC branch has supported more than 15,300 people having allocated nearly 33.8 mln rubles. That includes over 8,800 recipients of financial assistance totaling 12.5 mln rubles. The affected communities receive food packages, hygiene kits, clothes and purchase certificates for essential items and pharmaceuticals. The RRC also extends targeted assistance to displaced families and psychological support to victims.
